Hammersmith Surgery

Built in 2001, the Hammersmith NHS surgery had been conceived by architects Guy Greenfield as a 'sculptural object' with huge curved fibreglass panels on its façade adjoining sheer glass walls that stretched the full height of the building.

However, organic growth had quickly covered the once striking white panels and a cleaning solution was required that would be gentle enough for use on glass and fibreglass but would also ensure the building remained stain-free long after the cleaning was complete.

Using a caustic-free, citrus-based cleaning system, EcoLogic was able to gently remove all staining from the fibreglass panels, without the need for preparation, protecting the glass windows and saving the hospital both time and money. When the panels were thoroughly clean, an organic growth protection system was applied to keep the building gleaming white for the longest possible time.

The surgery was in continual use throughout the project and, to add a further challenge, it is located on a busy roundabout adjacent to the M4 flyover. Efficient completion was vital to ensure no disruption to the daily running of the hospital and with constant traffic and a continual flow of patients each day, health and safety practices were meticulously adhered to.
